Do you like traveling with your dog? I used to travel quite a bit with Shelley. At first, she was a little afraid, and would drool a lot. (The vet said that the drooling was a sign of stress.) But after a while, she got used to it and got to like it.

For myself, it was great traveling with a dog. As a woman traveling alone, I would otherwise have been a little afraid. This way, I had nothing to fear. If someone would have tried to get into our hotel room, Shelley would have barked and probably scared them away. And during the day, I felt like people were less likely to bother me, since I had a dog with me.

We traveled to many different states and interesting places this way.

One trick of dog travel is to know which hotels and motels accept pets. The AAA guides list which ones accept pets. Also, most Motel-6’s accept dogs. If you stay in one, get their book of motels, and then you will be set, wherever you go. It is always best to call ahead just to double-check.
