Blind Dog Blog

I just read a really interesting blog, Blind Dog Blog. Yes, I read the whole thing. I started at the earliest archives and read all the entries.
I was just fascinated by this story. The author takes in a blind hound puppy. This dog is totally out of control. The story is hilarious, heartwarming, and unbelievable. She keeps wondering if she should get rid of the dog, but she hasn’t (so far).
It really makes you think. Dogs are apparently so cute and worm their way into your heart so much, that you just can’t get rid of them, no matter how much trouble they cause.
Whether this is a good thing, or not, is a matter of opinion. The author’s son, for example, is not happy with the dog. The dog is, in some ways, running this household.
There are definitely some things I would do differently. I wouldn’t let the dog get away with snarling and being aggressive about his food. On the other hand, I don’t think I’d have the stamina to keep up with a hyperactive blind dog.
Read the story and decide for yourself.

You know, I just can’t do it.. I can’t read it.. I understand the desire to help disabled or disadvantaged pets and I think it’s wonderful when people do it, but I think the piece that is often missing is the question: Do I have the time, patience, resources and skill to care for this dog?
Just my two cents.

I know what you mean — I feel that way too. I thought this story was unusual because it was not really depressing to read. It was written in a very humorous vein. She seems to enjoy the dog as much as she is exasperated with him.
