Cesar Millan In Person

Jen from the Fuzzy Logic blog had the good fortune to see Cesar Millan in person at a seminar in Staten Island. She has written an interesting article about the event on her blog.
In order for our dogs to be happy, we need to be sure that they are fullfilled as dogs.
What we think of as fullfillment is not necessarily what dogs think of as fullfillment. Read more…
She goes on to explain the four levels at which dogs should have their needs satisfied and how to do this. Read the article - it is definitely thought-provoking.
Of course, I love Cesar Millan, and have written about him before. See these articles for more information: The Dog Whisperer and Cesar Millan Books and Tapes.

Of course, I think Cesar Millan is just the greatest dog psych I’ve ever encountered and it was the Oprah Show where I first saw his experitise in action. Having 3 small dogs of my own, I definitely needed information on how to train and work with my dogs. Every Friday, I look forward to learning how to handle my dogs. Just using some of his techniques have helped me with my dogs tremendously. I wish Cesar lived in New York City so he could come to my home to show me how to walk 3 dogs (2 whom are rowdy during our walks)at one time. My dogs are walked with harnesses and not with neck collars because of concern of collapsed tracheas. When I tried to train my toy fox terrier to walk to my side, she keeps going in the front. I realize she thinks she is the alpha dog or pack leader. Still, I assert myself with my dogs- trying to be calm-assertive. However, I am not quite the pack leader yet. How else can I explain finding 2 of my dogs in my bed in the morning without my permission? They sneak in my bed when I am asleep. Plus, they are not fully house trained yet. My female dog eliminates in the house even though we go on 2-3 walks outside daily. I just wish I could afford to bring Cesar to New York City.

My niece has a Samoyed who chews everything in sight. She really needs help training her dog. However, like veterinarians, most dog trainers charge a lot of money to assist pet owners. I heard that Cesar is comimg to New York City in September: exactly when, where and what time?
