The Washington Post has a heartwarming story about a beagle who got lost and was found again more than a year later.

The first thing that struck me about this story is that the woman first got the beagle, Snowflake, when she saw her tied up in a yard and not gettng much attention. She asked the owners if she could have the dog, and they said yes. How easy — just to ask! I guess since they were not paying much attention to the dog anyway, they might have been happy that someone wanted her.

Then, after the dog ran away, the owner never gave up hope. She kept checking back at the shelter, week after week, to see if Snowflake had been found.
